I have for a very long time been involved with public first aid with another first aid provider prior to going to a public meeting being held on behalf of LIVES and hosted by a gentleman called Mr Neil Wilkinson.
I liked the concept of assisting the Ambulance service in our immediate area on life threatening situations where time is critical on the outcome of the patents survival.
A public meeting was organised in Caistor with the aid of one of my colleges in the Lions club. It was well attended and a small nucleus of responders was formed, financed again by an auction of donated goods organised by the lions in Caistor.
The team was set up and I was elected as the Coordinator and Trainer at that time.
My first callout was to chest pains on 07/03/2001 which was the second call out for the team, the first being chest pains by a husband and wife duo who are no longer with the team on 05/01/2001.
My life long ambition is to own and run a steam traction engine like my grandfather.
